Domaine Bousquet 2020 Pinot Noir Rosé Gaia Gualtallary 13.1% $20
Dark salmon in color, this rosé is visually appealing in its attractive, clear bottle. Though this was whole cluster-pressed to pop aromas, the wine maintains its subdued nose even after it warms in the glass for 30 minutes. The palate is mild in flavor with hints of red plum and strawberry. Unfortunately, it’s a bit watery in concentration. Most noticeable is the overt tannic bitterness framing the wine’s awkward girth. Additionally, I’m surprised it is only 13.1% abv. It feels higher. Something is off-kilter here, which is surprising for a producer and range that generally make reliably good still and sparkling wines.
